"Together make a valuable contribution to a sustainable future" - KRAIBURG focuses on the circular economy!

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

The KRAIBURG Group has been dealing with circular economy issues  in the tire industry for many years   . We work successfully with  innovative products and processes  in different phases of the tire life cycle. The KRAIBURG Group is now one of the largest consumers of granules and flours in Europe, which are obtained from used tires and reused in high-quality products.

Since it was founded in 1965, KRAIBURG Austria, as one of 9 divisions, has focused on tire retreading and the production of the necessary rubber materials, which is the first stage in the cycle, which represents the reuse of used   tires .

Due to the increasingly pressing  climatic challenges  and new business models, a more comprehensive consideration of environmental performance and the associated reorientation of environmental policy has become essential for KRAIBURG Austria!

  • SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS
  • ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT IN PRODUCTION
  • RESPONSIBILITY IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN

In the course of this reorientation, the following subject areas have been identified, on the basis of which current and future measures are aligned. All measures to improve environmental performance should be based on the following premise:

ELIMINATE – REDUCE – COMPENSATE

The primary question should therefore always be whether an environmental impact can be avoided. If this is not the case, the focus should be on reducing the environmental impact. And if this is initially not feasible, a suitable compensation measure can be considered.

CO2 EMISSIONS

The corporate CO2 footprint is one of the central parameters for us as a chemical company. The desired improvement can be measured on the basis of this key figure, which is determined and checked annually by external experts with defined standards. By participating in the international "Science Based Targets" initiative (science-based approach to limiting global warming to 2° Celsius), KRAIBURG Austria has committed itself to a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions.

The use of thermal and electrical energy are the essential factors...

... responsible for influencing the environmental performance and for the majority of the CO2 emissions at the site. For economic reasons alone, we have always focused on minimization. The switch to “green electricity”, but above all the further reduction in energy requirements, e.g. B. through energy-saving systems and process optimization, should contribute to the continuous improvement of environmental performance.
